Jan Lewan Orchestra Reunion Concert – DVD

October 24, 2010 at J.J. Ferrara Performing Arts Center, Hazleton, PA

It’s being heralded as the concert of the decade. It’s Grammy nominated Jan Lewan and his original 14 piece orchestra
together again for a truly inspiring reunion concert. Own a part of musical history as Jan and his Orchestra prove once and for all that triumph reigns over tragedy. To make things happen in life, you must have faith and passion and this group of extraordinary musicians are proud to prove their resilience and compassion for their music and one another – as well as their fans. It was 10 years in the planning stage and this sold out – once in a lifetime performance, is a must have and is now available on CD and DVD. As a featured bonus you will receive an entire DVD which includes behind the scenes footage including interviews with each musician.  Other highlights of the video include a vocal duet with Jan and his daughter Amber, Polish songstress Ania Piwovarczik, a trumpet solo by Jan’s son Daniel, MC Peter Danielczuk, and much, much more.

…. Once again, congratulations for producing such a first class video set. It truly was awsome from start to finish. Marshall & I had a quiet evening all alone & it was better than going out to a movie or dinner, especially watching something so great. I think volume 1 gives the viewer enough of a build up to see all that the other volume has to offer. ……

WOW I have been a huge fan of Jan Lewan since hearing a number of his songs on the Wild Wilson show a couple of years ago and had ordered some of his previous DVDs and grammy nominated cd. I am sure I have listened to his 1995 cd 50+ times if not more.

I mean I love polka music in general but Jan Lewan’s music is among the best. If you are only going to order 2 polka DVD’s this year they should be Jimmy Sturr’s PBS special and this one.

This DVD set is Jan Lewan at his best. Not to mention that Jan has certainly passed the musical gene to both his son Daniel on the trumpet and daugter Amber with her incredible vocals on a number of songs. I also think it is a testament to Jan’s character that so many of his former band members have come back to support him in this reunion concert. I must also note the fantastic job Hank Guzevich (Polka Family) has done mixing the audio and John Koterba’s great videography and video editing.

Anyway, I want to finish watching the DVD, and I will probably watch it a few more times before I do the full review but for now all I can say is  INCREDIBLE INCREDIBLE INCREDIBLE !!!!!!!!!!!!

Received your new disc yesterday and have enjoyed listening. I would have spun it for the week of Feb 27th, but I had just put that show in the can the day before – whatcha gonna do. When will the disc be out for the people to purchase it? When it’s all printed up and finished if you would send another copy with the art work I would dig on that as I’m not really one of those mp3 types as I like tangible items like in the olden days.

As far as feedback on the disc here’s what the Wildman has to say, “the new CD by Jan Lewan & his Orchestra brings you into their Reunion Concert from Oct 24. I couldn’t physically make it there, but now I feel like I’m there every time I spin it. Whether it’s Jan singing his new ‘Rapping Polka’ or pounding one out on the ivories, Ania doing a couple for us, Stephen wailing on his sax, or Jan’s daughter Amber and her vocal stylings this is a disc you’ll enjoy enjoying it!”

The only thing I would have done if I was making a disc I would have had more audience sounds between the tracks so it wouldn’t of seemed like separate track and with more banter from you if possible. I like to hear from the guy who brings it all together – the star if I may as that’s why we’re all there.

Well that’s all I have on this Saturday morning Jan. Hope you’ll enjoy your day and I look forward to bringing your wonderful new CD to my listeners! – Rod
